After using another study course, I failed three out of four sections of the exam. That was when I opted for the Yaeger's Home Study Course. The result was much better than anticipated as I succeeded in passing the three sections with impressive results.
The Yaeger website makes bold claims as they allege the average pass rate is 88%. The founder, Dr. Phil Yaeger, has prepared candidates for the exam since 1977. I was attracted to the fact Dr. Yaeger and his team provided access to a tutors help line. Needless to say, I made plenty of use of this service and even spoke to Dr. The lecturers were tolerant and ensured all my queries were answered before finishing the call.
I found the lecture videos quite engaging and led by well qualified tutors. The tutor would first explain important ideas, and then take students through multiple choice questions and examples. A feature with the Yaeger system is that more lecture time is taken up with materials that are more likely to appear on the exam. Also worth a mention are Yaeger's cram DVDs which can add between 5 to 15 points to your final CPA results. Each DVD teaches a reduced version of a single CPA section and varies between 7-16 hours. It means the course is pretty much up to date and you can have assurance the material is still suitable.
All in all, I am very content with the Yaeger CPA review course and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone trying to succeed in the CPA exam.
